Whale & Dolphin Trip

From GBP 75

This extended half day trip leaves Stornoway Harbour from where we take MV Monadhliath out into the stretch of water between the western highlands and the Outer Hebrides known as the Minch, and will head out to sea for approximately 4-5 hours. As the voyage progresses the crew will use their local knowledge to search the most likely spots for wildlife, whale and dolphin activity. Our resident guide will constantly be on the lookout for marine wildlife.  No two trips are the same and you are guaranteed a variety of wildlife; you are likely to encounter seals and seabirds including puffins in the summer and possibly eagles all year round. You are welcome to bring your own packed lunch and snacks if you wish.

From Stornoway harbour we can start looking for wildlife immediately as there is often a seal or two around the boats. Once we leave the harbour and head out, seabirds, seals, porpoises and dolphins can all be quite close sometimes. With Tiumpan Head nearby and the Minch, we have plenty of great areas to look for wildlife before heading back to Stornoway

Highlights

Before going on board, our experienced guides will provide information about which species we may encounter and signs to look out for. This wildlife talk will take place at our Booking Office at 22 North Beach, Stornoway, where all guests are asked to assemble.
